Smoke Synopsis:

Today a low pressure system will approach
bringing an increase in moisture from the south. Wetting rains and showers or
thunderstorms are possible over portions of the fires on Wednesday. A strong
warming and drying trend is expected Thursday through the weekend.
Smoke is expected in the low lying areas adjacent
to the fire until 0900hrs when up-slope/up-valley winds will begin to lift
the smoke out of valleys. Daytime heating and terrain aligned winds bring the
possibility of an increase in fire behavior and smoke production. Due to the
heat produced by the fire the majority of the smoke has been sent aloft and
impacts have been reported as far away as Idaho and Montana. As the fire continues to grow in size look
for the possibility of the smoldering fuels to produce significant air
quality impacts to the surrounding areas.

amended an emergency proclamation to include a ban on most outdoor and
agricultural burning for 20 counties east of the crest of the Cascades
beginning immediate, and continuing until noon Friday, July 25**
